From weekly Maluaka Golf Days to whale watching on a fabulous catamaran, from vintner's receptions with delicious dinners prepared by celebrated chefs to sake tasting followed by a traditional Japanese dinner buffet, Maluaka members enjoyed a full range of exciting events over the winter months.

In March, fourteen members boarded the 46-foot Kai Kanani catamaran from Maluaka Beach and set sail to enjoy a beautiful afternoon on the water. A good time was had by all.

Also in March, was a sake tasting at the Maui Prince's Hakone restaurant conducted by World Sake Imports from Honolulu and Hakone's, Chef Tom. While the sake was delicious and everyone learned about the many types of sake, the highlights of the evening were the Lycheetini's and the special Kobe steaks!

Our final winter event was very special featuring Maui's celebrated chef, Bev Gannon. Bev had recently returned from a trip to the White House where she was recognized as Hawaii's Small Business Person of the Year. She created a menu for our event that accentuated the tantalizing tastes of the featured Ridge wines. More than 37 members and guests attended and everyone enjoyed the great food, wine and camaraderie.

On the South Course closing day, May 27th, members gathered for a continental breakfast followed by a shotgun start and culminating with a barbecue lunch. Through September 30th, Maluaka Golf Days continue on the North Course, with tee times every Tuesday from 8am - 9am.

With our building permit in place, work will soon begin on the vertical construction. Construction crews have been diligently working to complete site improvements including underground utilities, drainage system, roadways, and rock perimeter walls. Currently, work is underway on installation of the electrical utilities. Site work is on schedule and is proceeding under the watchful eyes of the Maluaka development team.

Every effort is being made to keep the site clean, safe and to minimize impact on the natural environment. Maluaka is being developed under strict environmental guidelines. When completed, the community will be a model for "green" building and operating standards. Maluaka will apply for LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
